Sphyrion, copepod

Characteristics of Sphyrion

Size

Body lengths of females are 38-60 mm or so.  Males have body lengths of about 2 mm and attach to females.

Parasitize targets

Sinks the large hammer-shaped projection from the cephalothorax into the fish body, with the rear part of the body exposed out of the fish body.

Characteristics

Only females parasitize fish.

Impacts on human

It does not parasitize human beings.
