Nybelinia, tapeworm (tetrarhynchoidea)

Characteristics of Nybelinia

Color

Milky white

Size

Nearly an oval of a size of 5 mm or so.  Larva looking like Tentacularia but being a little smaller.

Parasitize targets

Parasitizing muscles and body cavities.

Characteristics

Having four relatively long proboscises on head area.  (Proboscis: An adhesive organ that is of a cylindrical shape and is expandable and shrinkable)

Impacts on human

It does not parasitize human beings. It is found parasitizing raw tarako (cod roe) and surume-ika (Pacific flying squid), resulting in complaints.

Major seafood hosts

Pacific cod and Pacific flying squid
