Introduction

The boom in outdoor leisure activities in recent years has led to increased opportunities for seeing wild mushrooms. Meanwhile, it is not easy to distinguish between poisonous and edible mushrooms and cases of food poisoning caused by mushrooms occur every year.
These pages provide information on the poisonous mushrooms which most commonly cause food poisoning intermixed with actual examples of food poisoning. Determining whether a mushroom is edible is not easy and cases of food poisoning have occurred even to people with years of experience picking wild mushrooms.
Never eat any mushrooms that you are not absolutely sure are edible.
