  • Is the intake of aluminum connected with Alzheimer’s or any other illness?

Aluminum reacts easily with acids and alkalis. When aluminum foil comes in contact with umeboshi and other highly acidic foods, it can blacken and dissolve. Fortunately, however, almost 100% of any aluminum which gets into the body is excreted and aluminum causes not harmful health effects, meaning you have no need to worry.

More information

Like oxygen, iron, and copper, aluminum is a common element found throughout the natural world. It’s found in minerals, the soil, water, the air, plants, and animals. We intake aluminum every day through the food we eat, the beverages we drink, and the air we breathe, but our bodies get rid of almost all of it. In the past, it was theorized that overconsumption of aluminum could lead to Alzheimer’s disease. Much research, however, has been conducted since and no evidence has been found which supports this theory.
