Pieris japonica (Ericaceae)

Evergreen shrub growing in fields and mountains with many of white and pink flowers blooming in clusters in the spring. It may be found planted as a garden tree.


Characteristics

Habitat Mountains, gardens, etc.
Parts of the plant that may be ingested accidentally. Leaves, bark, flowers.
Symptoms Abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, neuroparalysis, breathing difficulties, etc.
Venomous constituents Asebotoxin, etc.
